Although there is not much room for a proper table in our apartment, we make the effort to eat our meals together bar style. Philipp is always the executive chef allowing me the time to happily style our settings for each meal. I make it a whole event by picking up a fresh bouquet, cueing the appropriate music, and burning a scented candle or two. This makes for the best date nights at home.

Setting a table is all about creating a feeling. An ambience. It is important to pair the appropriate setting with the occasion and menu. Once the menu is developed and finalized, the planning begins.

I began with these woven place mats to give dimension and texture as a nice base. Next step is the dinnerware. I went with a blue and white pallete to keep it fresh and happy for Spring. The blue and white floral bowls added so much character and pop to the overall look. Since the mood was light an airy, I opted for our silver Robert Welch flatware.
My favorite part of creating an elegant table setting is choosing the glassware. Despite this look being more on the casual side, I chose to add some glam with these crystal glasses (similar and on sale here). The crystal paired perfectly with the color palette adding to the fresh look I was aiming for and hopefully achieved.

Of course there is after dinner desert and tea. A nice warm cup of tea and something sweet is the perfect ending to a relaxing dinner at home. I am so in love with this Smeg kettle and use it every chance I get.
