Germany Part 1: A Match Made in Heaven

Although our overseas trip was indeed a vacation, the most important reason for us traveling to Germany was to celebrate the birthday of Philipp’s Opa. He turned 80! From the moment I met him back on my first trip to Germany in 2011, he has always been so kind and warm to me. He loves to crack jokes and add his smart comments to every conversation making everyone around him laugh. He is just one of a kind and I love him for it.

Thirty guests including Philipp and I all gathered at Princ Carl Coffee House and Tea Parlor located in a nearby village. The Coffee house has a few different rooms to choose from to celebrate special occasions. His Opa chose the most gorgeous room they call Café 1900. As soon as I walked in, it felt like a match made in heaven. I continuously gazed in awe at every detail. I am talking blush pink walls, floral printed drapes, and garden green velvet upholstered chairs. Not to mention the table landscape including fresh florals, crisp white cloth napkins, and the cutest bread plates. I was in heaven!

Guests arrived around noon bringing the most creative homemade gifts and baskets filled with chocolates, wine, and all things sweet. I wore this Camellia Garden Shirtdress that matched perfectly with the decor. It felt as if everything aligned perfectly with my outfit. I paired it with pink heels with the cutest bow details (similar here) and a bright pink Ralph Lauren belt.

Every time we travel back to Germany for a visit, we make a point to stop by the courthouse where we were married. So on this evening we walked around the old town right by the courthouse reminiscing about our life in Germany and what might be to come in our future. These deep conversations are my favorite because they always leave me so inspired and excited for what could be ahead for us. I have so much more to share in the upcoming weeks so until next time.
