Next stop was Schloss Lichtenstein. It was an overcast morning when we drove up the winding roads to see the shining rock they call Schloss Lichtenstein. We would drive by it often when living in Germany, but we never made the point to visit. Now that we live so far away, I think about every place a bit different. So this time I knew I wanted to see this castle since it was so close to home. As soon as we began making our walk up to the entrance, the clouds cleared up and the sun came out. It was as if everything was aligning just right for us to enjoy our time here. The grounds were surrounded by the greenest meadows filled with tiny yellow wildflowers sprinkled about. And the sky…it was so blue! Every detail including the sweet sound of birds singing all around made it feel like a scene described in storybooks.

When we made our plans to visit Schloss Lichtenstein for the day, I knew this red wine colored skirt (similar here and here) would suit the location best. I paired it with this white shirt , which I tucked in but also looks great tied at the waist. The weather had been chilly so I decided to bring along this denim jacket I had been wearing on the days I wasn’t wearing my pink one. The outfit needed a tiny pop so I chose these navy and white striped espadrilles I had packed for long walking days and they really completed the outfit.

We took our time walking around the grounds taking in every detail admiring the castle from every angle. Each one as breathtaking as the last. We found an empty garden bench to sit so we could enjoy the view overlooking the green landscape that went on for miles and miles. That is one of my favorite aspects of Germany. Everything is so green and so well preserved.
